A Youth Musical In Washington State

As I searched for the latest LDS news stories, I was pleasantly surprised to see a story come up first featuring the youth of my stake!  I can’t wait to read coverage about it later and hopefully see this original musical called “Built on the Rock” myself.  Sadly, I was not able to be involved because it was a bigger committment than I could handle at the moment, but I was told there is an orchestra score written by a woman I know.  She is very talented.  No, extremely talented.  I have had the opportunity to participate in our Stake Christmas Devotionals with her.  She is a singer, pianist, and composer.  Awesome lady.

I have caught brief glimpses of their practices and it sounds great.  The performances of ”Built on the Rock:  A Book of Mormon Musical” will be May 7th and 8th at the Redmond Stake Center.  All ten songs in the program will testify of Jesus Christ.

We have amazing youth in our stake with a variety of musical talent.  It will be fun to watch them shine and to hear them showcase a new work.  I hope it will spread throughout our church’s youth program for other stakes to enjoy.  My best memories of being a youth in the church involved huge events like this.  We did a dance festival in our region, each stake being assigned a dance they were supposed to learn.  We were assigned The Charleston and a neighboring stake did The Hussel.  We got together to show off our new moves at the Tacoma Dome.  What a great memory that was.

This musical has taken months of hard work for our youth and I’m sure it will be a great memory.  I hope those of you in the Redmond, Washington area will attend.
